BCL leader arrested in sabotage case in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - Police in a drive arrested Rajibul Islam, 32, general secretary of Amtoli union banned Bangladesh Chhatra League from Mansabari Bazar under Kotalipara upazila of the district last night. 

The arrested BCL leader is the son of Hafizur Rahman of Gachapara village of the upazila. 

Officer-in-Charge of Kotalipara Police Station Khandaker Hafizur Rahman told BSS that “Rajibul Islam was arrested in a sabotage case at Wabdarhat in Kotalipara upazila on July 16.” 

Rajibul was produced before the court on Tuesday.   

On July 16, leaders of Awami League and its associate organizations gathered at Wabdarhat in Kotalipara upazila and blocked the highway. 

This created panic among the people and disrupted public movement. In this incident, the police filed a case with Kotalipara Police Station, naming 155 people and accusing 1,500 unknown people.
