DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court conducted by the Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) today inspected several chemical godowns at Shyambazar under Sutrapur Police Station.

After inspection, the mobile court handed down jail terms and fines for serious fire safety violations.

During the operation, SK Traders officers and employees — Nayan Debnath, Mizanur Rahman, and Dipankar Roy — were sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and fined Tk 1,000 each, with an additional 15 days of imprisonment in default of payment.

In addition, Sushil Pal, Monoranjan Shiv, and Md. Hashem, also officers and employees of the company, were sentenced to 15 days of imprisonment each.

The sentences were imposed for storing chemicals in residential areas without following government policies, lacking proper fire safety measures, and failing to comply with multiple official instructions.

Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman of the FSCD said, “Apart from conducting various awareness-raising activities, the mobile court has been conducted to strengthen fire safety. Mobile courts will be conducted in the future to increase fire safety.”

He also urged all concerned to relocate illegal chemical warehouses from residential areas to safe zones, prioritizing the safety of lives and property.
