Five terrorists held in Ctg with firearms

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested five alleged terrorists of notorious Mansur Bahini and seized a cache of firearms during a drive in Banshkhali upazila of the district early today.

The arrested persons were identified as Abu Nasr Chowdhury ,44, Abdul Quader ,40, Md Jamir Ahmed ,55, Md Ziaur Rahman ,50, and Md Sohel ,21-all residents under Banshkhali police station.

Acting on intelligence information that armed members of the Mansur Bahini were carrying out illegal activities, including extortion, land grabbing, and intimidation of locals near Notun Bazar under Banshkhali police station, a special operation was launched by Coast Guard Base Chattogram from 3 am to 6 am.

During the operation, the Coast Guard team arrested five armed members of the gang and recovered three country-made firearms, eight live cartridges, 15 blank cartridges, and eight country-made weapons.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed the information on Thursday afternoon.

Legal action is underway regarding the seized firearms and the detained suspects, the Coast Guard official said.
