NARAYANGANJ, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) – Police today arrested 29 leaders and activists of now disbanded Awami League and its affiliated organizations like Jubo League, outlawed Chhatra League, Awami Swechhasebok League and Sramik League in a special operation in the district over the past two days.

The river port district’s additional police superintendent Tareq Al Mehedy said that the special operation was conducted across Narayanganj centering the banned party’s Dhaka lockdown programme.

“We have installed 26 check posts on road and highways across the district for security reasons,” he said.

Mehedy said police arrested 58 members of the Awami League and its affiliates during the last two days of drive and recovered some crude bombs and devices.

Police said the lockdown programme could not disrupt traffic movements at Narayanganj section of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
