Shopkeeper killed in Madaripur road accident

MADARIPUR, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) – A shopkeeper was killed and two others were injured in an accident in the Somaddar Bridge area on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Sadar upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Ilias Sarder, 40, son of Monnat Sarder of Noyakandi Bajitpur village in the district.

Mostafapur Highway Police SI Matiar said the accident occurred when a covered van hit a roadside shop after its driver lost control of the steering, leaving Ilias dead on the spot and injuring two others.

The injured are Laboni, 12, daughter of Ilias, and customer Shawkat Sarder, 35.

Police have seized the covered van.
