Youth held with Tk 4.29 lakh fake notes in Jashore

KHULNA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 arrested a youth from Jashore along with counterfeit Bangladeshi currency worth Tk 4,29,600 and equipment used to produce fake notes.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6, CPC-3, conducted a drive on Thursday afternoon at a tea stall near Monihar Cinema Hall under Kotwali Model Police Station, where several people were reportedly waiting to sell fake currency, a RAB-6 press release said today.

During the raid, the force arrested Ibrahim Gazi, 19, son of Kashem Ali Gazi of Ganeshpur village under Patkelghata Police Station in Satkhira, and recovered Tk 90,000 in counterfeit notes from him.

During interrogation, Ibrahim admitted keeping more counterfeit money and printing equipment at his Ganeshpur residence. Acting on this, RAB raided his house the same evening, seizing Tk 3,39,600 in fake notes, a color printer, computer equipment, and other materials for producing counterfeit currency.

In total, Tk 4,29,600 in counterfeit notes was seized during the two operations.

The arrested youth and the recovered items were handed over to Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station for legal action, and a case has been filed in this connection, the press release added.
