MYMENSINGH, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince today said those trying to create fear around the Zia family are baseless, citing the popularity of the late President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman as the reason.

Speaking at a street rally at Darsha Bazar in Haluaghat upazila, he urged voters to support BNP under the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol in the upcoming national election.

He said the BNP, if voted to power, would restore democracy and ensure welfare for all, including farmers, workers, youth and women, through initiatives like farmers' support, irrigation development, free food and medical services, unemployment allowance and creation of one crore jobs in 18 months.

Prince criticized the proposal by the National Citizen Party (NCP) to bar the use of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and Tarique Rahman's images in BNP's election campaigns, saying that the party always follows legal procedures in political activities.

The rally was presided over by Saidur Rahman, convener of Koiichapur Union BNP, while member secretary Nurul Islam moderated the event.

BNP local leaders Aslam Mia Babul, Hanif Mohammad Shaker Ullah, Kazi Farid Ahmed Palash, Sultan Mohiuddin, Morshed Alam and Abdul Malek also spoke.
