Agricultural incentive programmme launched in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Agricultural Rehabilitation and Incentive Programmme for the fiscal year 2025-26 was inaugurated in Mollahat upazila, alongside the distribution of exhibition materials under the ‘Partner’ project aimed at boosting hybrid Boro paddy production during the Rabi season.
 
The Upazila Agriculture Extension Department (DAE) organized the two events at the Upazila Agriculture office premises on Thursday.
 
Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Matiyor Rahman presided over the inaugural program, while Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sushmita Saha attended as the chief guest and distributed incentive materials among farmers.
 
Additional Agriculture Officer Md. Mehedi Hasan, Press Club Mollahat General Secretary MM Mofizur Rahman, Vice President Md. Abdullah Faruk, journalist KM Mahmudul Haque, and officials from the Agriculture Department were also present.
 
Speakers at the event said the government incentive would significantly contribute to increasing farmers’ production capacity and support the expansion of hybrid Boro cultivation in the upcoming Rabi season.
 
A total of 3,400 kg of high-yielding hybrid rice seeds, packaged in two kg packets, are being distributed free of cost to 1,700 farmers in the upazila.
 
Various exhibition materials are being provided under the ‘Partner’ project, implemented with support from international development organizations including the World Bank and IFAD.
