Security drill held at Rajshahi Airport

RAJSHAHI, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - A full-scale security drill titled "Airport Security Exercise- 2025" was held at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi as per the international standard today.

Various organizations, including BCAA, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, RAB, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, APBN, Ansar, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Islami Bank Medical College Hospital, joined the drill.

Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) Air Vice Marshal Mostofa Mahmud Siddique attended the drill as the chief guest, which was held at the airport's apron area.

Speaking on the occasion, he said such a type of drill can play a vital role in identifying weaknesses, boosting inter-departmental coordination and ensuring international standard passenger services.

He also said integrated competence is the precondition to face and avert any unexpected situation quickly and effectively. 

Referring to the blaze incident at Shahjalal International Airport BCAA Chairman Mahmud Siddiqui said a coordinated effort of all the forces concerned ensured security in the areas from Cargo Terminal to Terminal 3. 

He also mentioned that no unwanted incident related to theft and looting or subversive activity happened there due to the professionalism of the security forces, which was widely acclaimed.

Airport Manager Dilara Parveen, BCAA Member (Security) Air Commodore Asif Iqbal, BCAA Member (Finance) Nazmul Haque and Member (Administration) Lablur Rahman were present at the event.
 
Airport Manager Dilara Parveen told BSS that this type of drill is mandatory biennially as per the International Civil Aviation Organization, Standards and Recommended Practices and National Civil Aviation Security Programme.

She said Bangladesh Biman and US Bangla Airlines are operating their commercial flights from this airport, adding that this type of drill was organized to assess the existing capacity to face any undesired incident.
