Fire guts several houses in Kaliakoir

GAZIPUR, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - A massive fire ravaged multiple houses in the Tinshed Colony area of Kaliakoir upazila in the district on Monday morning, causing huge property damage. 

No casualty was reported till filing this report, an official concerned told BSS.    

The fire originated from an electrical short circuit in a room of the Tinshed Colony around 8.30 am in Dighirpar area and engulfed the adjacent houses.

Three units from the Kaliakoir Fire Service rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after about an hour of effort.

Kaliakoir Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Iftekhar Hossain Raihan Chowdhury said that the fire may originate from an electrical short circuit, though a full assessment of the damage is still pending. The affected families estimate their losses at around Taka 50 lakh.
