KHULNA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - A Khulna court today (Monday) sent advocate
Parvez Alam Khan, an Awami League-leaning lawyer, former president of the
Khulna District Bar Association and former member of the Bangladesh Bar
Council, to jail in a sedition case.

Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Mohiduzzaman passed the order after
rejecting his bail petition.

Earlier, Parvez secured an eight-week anticipatory bail from the High Court
on 23 September, 2025.

Upon expiry of that order, the lower court granted him interim bail from 30
October to 17 November, which was later extended to 1 December by the acting
metropolitan sessions judge.

As the bail period expired, Parvez appeared before the court today seeking
fresh bail, which the court denied and subsequently ordered him to prison.

According to court sources, on 22 April, 2025 around 4.30 pm, police detained
advocate M.M. Mojibur Rahman at Moylapota intersection under Sonadanga Police
Station for suspicious movement.

Detectives seized his mobile phone and claimed he had been using various apps
to maintain regular communication with Awami League leaders and activists,
allegedly conspiring with them to destabilize the country and overthrow the
government.

Following internal discussions, he was shown arrested under Section 54 based
on a GD filed with Khalishpur Police Station and later sent to jail by the
court.

Subsequently, on 11 August, Bidhan Chandra Roy, Sub Inspector(SI) of
Detective Branch (DB) of KMP filed a case with Sonadanga Police Station,
accusing Mojibur Rahman, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, advocate Parvez
Alam Khan, former members of parliament Sheikh Helal, and Sheikh Jwel, among
six individuals, on charges of sedition.

Public Prosecutor Advocate A.K.M. Shahidul Alam Shahid told BSS that Parvez
is the third accused in the case and had allegedly acted in association with
the other accused to destabilize the national situation.

After the expiry of his earlier bail period, he surrendered before the court
today, which refused bail and ordered him to jail.
