Drug peddler jailed for 5yrs in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - A Chattogram court here today sentenced a drug peddler to five-year rigorous imprisonment. 

The Judge of the 4th Additional Metropolitan Session court Begum Serazam Munira delivered the judgement, in absentia , and also fined the convict five thousand taka , in default , more three months of simple jail punishment, court sources said. 

The convicted person is Md Sabbir Ahmed, also known as Sona Meah , 46 , son of late Haji Habibur Rahman of Baroitali village under Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district .  

The prosecution story in brief is that a Chandgaon thana police team arrested the drug trader Sabbir along with 1000 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from Karampara area of Chandgaon thana in the city on February 18, 2014. 

Court framed the charge against the accused on 31 March, 2015 based on a charge sheet submitted by police in the case filed under Narcotics Control Act, sources said.
