NETROKONA, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) - A 14-month-old boy drowned in a pond at Barokhapan village of Barakhapan union under Kamlakanda upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was Habibur Rahman Toha, son of Awlad Mia of the village. 

According to family and local sources, the child's mother was busy cooking inside the house at the time of the incident. Toha fell into a pond next to the house without anyone's knowledge. 

Later, the child was rescued from the pond and taken to Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor Dr. Suman Pal declared the child dead. 

Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Siddique Hossain confirmed the matter.
