3 killed, 2 injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - Three people were killed and two injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur on Wednesday night.

The deceased were Anisur Rahman, 55, Tarini Barman, 35, and his wife Iti Barman, 28.

Anisur, a local Jamaat leader, was killed on the spot when a speeding truck hit his motorcycle from behind around 10:30 pm near Laxmitola Bazar of Sadar Upazila on the Dinajpur-Phulbari regional highway. 

Two pedestrians were injured and admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in this incident. 

Police seized the truck, while its driver and helper fled.

Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Md Nurun Nabi confirmed the death of Anisur. 

In another accident, motorcycle rider Tarini and his wife Iti were killed in a head-on collision with a tractor around 9:00 pm at Komorpur Bottola More on the Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway in Birganj upazila. 

Tarini died on the spot, while his wife succumbed to her injuries at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital later at night.

Birganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Md Saiful Islam confirmed the death of a husband and wife.

Police said legal action is underway in connection with both accidents.
