KHULNA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Khulna Divisional Administration, Law
Enforcement Agencies and other government offices are working tirelessly for
keeping the environment friendly atmosphere at all 36 parliamentary
constituencies in the division to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
They are also working to ensure violence free peaceful atmosphere at all the
polling centers although the law enforcers have marked very and medium
polling centers side by side with general centers.
According to sources, police have identified 796 polling centers as most
important out of a total of 5,133 centers across the 36 parliamentary
constituencies in the Khulna division, ahead of the upcoming national polls.
Of the 5,133 polling centers, 1,851 have been marked as important, while the
remaining centers have been categorised as general.
The information was compiled based on assessments from local police stations
and intelligence reports, officials from the Khulna Range and the Khulna
Metropolitan Police said.
In 10 districts covering 36 constituencies, there are 4,824 polling centers,
of which, 723 have been identified as very important and 1,723 as important.
The remaining 2,338 centers fall under the general category.
Additional Deputy Inspector General (Operations) of Khulna Range Sheikh
Zainuddin said polling centers were classified into three categories -- most
important, important and general -- based on assessments by police stations
and intelligence agencies.
He said police would ensure foolproof security to safeguard voters' rights
and those 28 training programmes had been arranged for police personnel, of
which, 20 have already been completed.
Of the 36 constituencies, two are under the Khulna City Corporation (KCC)
area -- Khulna-2 (Sadar-Sonadanga) and Khulna-3 (Khalishpur-Daulatpur-Khan
Jahan Ali-Aranghata). The constituencies have a total of 309 polling centers,
of which, 79 have been marked as very important and 128 as important, meaning
police consider 67 percent of the centers there to be at risk.
Police officials said they conducted early risk assessments of city polling
centers considering the law and order situation.
Reports were submitted last month by Officers-in-Charges of eight
metropolitan police stations following inspections carried out since
September.
Assistant Commissioner (Media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police T M Rokonuzzaman
said past incidents of violence, previous suspension of voting, proximity to
influential persons' residences, remoteness of location, boundary protection,
ease of access and escape possibilities were considered while categorising
centers.
Returning Officer of Khulna-3 constituency and Regional Election Officer
Faisal Qader said all necessary measures would be taken to ensure a smooth
and festive election, adding that there was no reason for concern.
Contacted Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan said
police remained alert regarding polling centers and the overall voting
environment.
He said police personnel assigned to election duty had been undergoing
training for several months and that CCTV cameras would be installed at all
polling centers ahead of the polls, while police members would also carry
cameras to prevent any untoward incidents.
