BNP-nominated Mir Helal submits nomination paper in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS) – BNP-nominated candidate Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has submitted his nomination paper for the Chattogram-5 (Hathazari–Bayezid) constituency.

He submitted his nomination to Returning Officer and Divisional Commissioner Md Ziauddin at around 10am today. As of Saturday, a total of 192 candidates have filed nominations for the 16 parliamentary constituencies in Chattogram. 

According to the announced schedule, the last date for submitting nomination papers is tomorrow, December 29.
After submitting his nomination papers, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin expressed optimism about the upcoming election. He said the expected return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to Bangladesh has helped stabilise the electoral landscape and reduced uncertainty. He added that the country is heading towards a fair and credible election scheduled for February 12.

BNP has finalised candidates for 15 of the 16 parliamentary seats in Chattogram, with one seat still vacant as of Sunday morning. 

Candidates may withdraw their nominations until January 20. Election campaigning will begin on January 22 and continue until 7:30am on February 10.
