RANGPUR, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - A meeting and workshop titled 'Peaceful Democratic Transformation of Bangladesh' was held in Rangpur city today ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
The event, organized by the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), was presided over by the organization’s president, retired Ambassador M Humayun Kabir, at a hotel auditorium in the city.
Competing candidates from Rangpur-3 constituency, including Jamaat-e-Islami’s Mahbubur Rahman, Islamic Movement’s Amiruzzaman Piyal, independent candidate Anwara Islam Rani and BNP candidate's representative Dr Rokunuzzaman addressed the event.
District SHUJAN president Principal Khandaker Fakhrul Anam Benju, its general secretary Nasima Amin, journalist Farhaduzzaman Faruk, District Corruption Prevention Committee general secretary Belal Hossain, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
The candidates in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections from Rangpur-3 constituency in their speeches pledged to work to move the country forward with justice, unity and solidarity, non-discrimination, good governance, and creating a safe digital space.
The other speakers said that the government had become a dictatorship because justice was not established in the country in the past.
Since the judiciary was in the political circle, people including the common people who spoke against the government did not get justice.
Therefore, the judiciary must be made independent through those who will be in the government in the future.
There will be competition among the candidates in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections. But to build the Bangladesh of the future, unity and solidarity must be maintained.
All political parties and candidates must take an oath to establish the inequality that so many lives were lost in the 24th uprising to eliminate.
Along with this, candidates must cooperate in a beautiful and peaceful election ceremony by avoiding the path of violence, including constructive criticism, they said.
