DMTCL mourns death of Begum Khaleda Zia

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - Authorities of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company 
Limited (DMTCL) have expressed deep sorrow over the death of Begum Khaleda 
Zia, the country's first woman Prime Minister and Chairperson of the 
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

In a condolence message, Managing Director of DMTCL Faruk Ahmed conveyed deep 
sympathy to the bereaved family, her relatives, admirers, well-wishers, party 
leaders, activists and supporters.

The nation has lost a guardian figure with the death of Khaleda Zia, who 
dedicated her life to the struggle for democracy in Bangladesh and made the 
highest sacrifices in that pursuit, he added.

Begum Khaleda Zia, a three-time elected former prime minister, passed away at 
around 6:00 am today while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the 
capital. 

All officers and employees of the DMTCL prayed for the eternal peace of her 
departed soul and extended heartfelt sympathies to her bereaved family.
