
DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - A three-day long training titled "Gender and Climate Change," concluded today at the training room of LGED Headquarters.
The Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre (CReLIC) of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) arranged the workshop that begun on December 30.
LGED Additional Chief Engineer Syeda Asma Khatun attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and distributed certificates among the participants.
CReLIC Additional Chief Engineer (Current Charge - Training Unit) Syed Shafiqul Islam and Executive Engineer Md. Latif Hossain were also present at the event.
Syeda Asma Khatun expressed her sincere thanks to everyone involved.
"This training is a practical example of how crucial gender sensitivity is in tackling the impacts of climate change," she said.
She said, "The adverse effects of climate change fall disproportionately on women, children, and marginalized communities. Therefore, it is essential to integrate a gender perspective into planning, implementation, and policy-making."
Earlier, Syed Shafiqul Islam delivered the welcome speech. He said LGED has always been committed to gender equality and inclusive development in local infrastructure and climate-resilient projects.
He noted that this initiative by CReLIC to enhance knowledge and skills is a reflection of that commitment.
LGED's Additional Chief Engineers, Project Directors, Executive Engineers, and specialized consultants conducted the training session.
A total of 30 senior assistant engineers and assistant engineers from LGED participated in the program.
The event was also attended by training specialist Md. Abul Kashem and media and communication specialist Syed Mahbub Ahsan.
