NAOGAON, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) - A doa mahfil was held here seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The programme was organized at Murshula High School auditorium in the district town on Saturday afternoon. 

BNP-nominated candidate for Naogaon-5 (Sadar) constituency Zahidul Islam Dhalu addressed the event as the chief guest. Recalling the political life of Begum Khaleda Zia, he said she had struggled throughout her life to uphold democracy and protect the rights of the people without compromise. 

At the end of the event, special prayers were offered seeking forgiveness for the souls of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, and for the sound health and long life of the party Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Bangladesh Teachers Association Presidium Member Hafiz Master, Private Teachers Workers Association Sadar Upazila Branch Convener Harunur Rashid, Member Secretary Nazrul Islam, Chak Enayet High School principal Saiful Islam, Chak Prasad High School Acting principal Belal Uddin Pramanik, among others, were present at the programme.
