BCG seizes 4,000 metres of deer traps, 100kg venison in Sundarbans

BAGERHAT, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 4,000 metres of deer hunting traps along with 100 kilograms of venison from the Kagadobeki area of the Sundarbans.

The information was confirmed to BSS by Coast Guard West Zone Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Md Muntasir Ibne Mohsin on Tuesday morning.

Based on a secret tip-off, members of Coast Guard Station Kagadobeki conducted a special operation at around 4:00 pm on Monday in the area adjacent to Gholer Canal in the Sundarbans under Koyra police station of Khulna district.

During the operation, the Coast Guard recovered 4,000 metres of deer hunting traps and 100kg of venison from the spot. However, no one could be arrested as the poachers managed to flee sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.

The seized venison and hunting traps were later handed over to the Kagadobeki Forest Patrol Outpost.
