Motorcycle crash killed youth in Harinakundu

JHENAIDAH, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - A young man was killed and another injured in a collision between a motorcycle and battery-run auto-rickshaw in Harinakundu upazila of the district yesterday evening.

The accident occurred around 7 pm at Sat Bridge Bazar area resulting in one death. 

Officer-in-Charge of Harinakundu Police Station Golam Kibria Hasan confirmed the matter. 

The deceased was identified as Pranto Islam, 22, who was riding the motorcycle, while the pillion rider was also taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Pranto Islam was the son of Khokon Mia of Bahadurpur village in Harinakundu upazila. The injured co-rider, Noyon, is the son of Nofor Mondol of the same village. Due to the critical condition, Noyon was referred to Kushtia Sadar Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that the motorcycle coming from Harinakundu collided head-on with the rickshaw. The motorcycle was heading towards Jordah Bazar. 

Locals rushed the injured to Harinakundu Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the motorcycle rider, Pranto, dead.


The body of the deceased will be handed over to his family. 

No complaint has been lodged so far, while legal action will follow if a complaint is filed, he added.
