JOYPURHAT, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - BNP candidate Masud Rana Prodhan for Joypurhat-1 constituency (Sadar and Panchbibi) has said that he would work to build Jaipurhat as a modern model town if elected in the 13th parliament election to be held on Februry 12.
During an interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha's (BSS) Joypurhat district correspondent Masud Rana, the BNP candidate outlined his plans for the overall development of Joypurhat.
BSS: What are your electoral pledges for the voters of your area?
Masud Rana Prodhan: I will work to improve the standard of education. I will take initiative to establish a technical college in Joypurhat and a textile institute in Panchbibi.
I will take steps to construct an alternative bypass road to alleviate city traffic congestion. I will launch a social movement against drugs abuse to stop terrorism in the district. I will try to bring gas through pipeline to modernize the only heavy industry,
Joypurhat Sugar Mill, and provide gas connections to people's residences. Considering the difficulties of students in front of various schools, I will try to build over-bridges for easy movement of students-guardians.
BSS: What is your directive to leaders and activists regarding compliance with the electoral code of conduct?
Masud Rana Prodhan: We are trying to comply with the election code of conduct. We are following the directives of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, the Secretary General, and the Standing Committee. I and all the leaders and activists of the party will abide by the code of conduct.
BSS: What is your position on the referendum regarding the July Charter?
Masud Rana Prodhan: We pay our respects to those who gave their lives for the country. For the welfare of the country, for the welfare of the people, we support whatever is good. Whatever is good for my party, the country, and the people will be done.
BSS: What is your expectation regarding the upcoming national election?
Masud Rana Prodhan: Through a free and fair election, people will exercise their voting rights. The government as well as the law enforcement agencies will ensure that people can cast their votes without fear. In the July-August 2024, many weapons were looted from police stations. I hope the government will recover all illegal weapons and ensure a fair election environment. If people can vote freely and fairly, we hope that, as in the past, BNP will be victorious this time as well.
