697 sacks of illegally stored rice seized in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) – Police have recovered 697 sacks of Open Market Sale (OMS) rice, stored for sale on the black market, and arrested one person in the Khulishpur area today.

The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Al Faisal, 39.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Khulna Metropolitan Police, led by Khulishpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Touhiduzzaman, conducted a raid around 11 am at a house near Goalpara Community Centre in the Khulishpur area.

Sensing the presence of police, black market traders attempted to remove the rice and fled the scene.

However, police recovered all 697 sacks from the rented house and an adjacent Platinum Jute Mills staff quarter.
