Five killed as drum truck runs over van in Mohadevpur

NAOGAON, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) - Five people were killed after a drum truck ran over a rickshaw-van in Mohadevpur upazila of the district early Saturday morning.

The accident occurred around 4:30 am in the Pathakathi area of the upazila.

Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Mohadevpur Upazila Health Complex Imrul Kayes confirmed the deaths of five persons.

The identities of two of the deceased were known immediately. They are Bipul Pahan (25) and Sanju Rao (45) of Nurpur area of the upazila.

Acting Station Officer of Mohadevpur Fire Service and Civil Defence, Abul Kashem said the drum truck was heading towards Patnitala from Mohadevpur. On the way, the truck lost control and ran over the rickshaw-van, leaving two people dead on the spot. 

Three others were rescued in critical condition and sent to the Upazila Health Complex.

The RMO said the three critically injured persons were brought to the hospital around 5:00 am. A total of five people died in the incident, he added.
