Literary meeting dedicated to Madhusudan Dutta held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) - The 1249th literary meeting of Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad (RSSP) dedicated to poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta was held here marking the 202nd birth anniversary of the legendary poet.

The meeting was held at the RSSP office located in the city’s Rangpur Town Hall premises on Friday night with RSSP President Dr Nasima Akter in the chair.

The theme of this year’s meeting is-‘Life illuminated by the purity of literature’. 
 
Eminent writer and educationist Prof Mohammad Shah Alam discussed the life, patriotism and literary works of poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta in the event. 
 
RSSP adviser and writer Professor Atahar Ali Khan discussed Madhusudan Dutta and his works while eminent writer and cultural figure Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu discussed his life in exile in Iran and his literary works there. 
 
RSSP adviser and writer Advocate Masum Hasan and drama secretary Niresh Mukherjee participated in the poetry recitation of poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta. Poets Hasnain Rabbi and Sarkar Bablu recited poems written in the regional languages of Rangpur. 
 
Besides, poets Tajul Islam, Mahmuda Chowdhury, Afzal Hossain, Azizul Haque Mollah, Sufi Zahid Hossain, Mamun Ur Rashid, and others also participated in the poetry recitation. 
 
Poets Momtazur Rahman Babu and G S Bappon were present among others when RSSP's literary secretary Afzal Hossain moderated the meeting. 
 
After the meeting, with the consent of all those present, it was decided to organize the RSSP's annual banquet on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
