RANGPUR, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - All-time high prices with excellent yields of groundnut has made farmers happy in Rangpur agricultural region where harvest of groundnut continues in full swing during the current Rabi season.

Market sources said farmers are currently selling their newly harvested groundnuts to wholesalers at excellent rates between Taka 6,000 to 6,300 per mound (every 40 kg) to earn huge profits.

Officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said that farmers in the region have exceeded the set target for groundnut cultivation for the first time in recent years, with cultivation of the highly profitable cash crop increasing every year.

The DAE has fixed a target of producing 12,245 tonnes of groundnut from 5,736 hectares of land for all five districts in the region during the current 2025-2026 Rabi season.
