Lalmonirhat to observe Int'l Mother Language Day with extensive programmes

RANGPUR, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration has taken various programmes to observe 'Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day, 2026' with due dignity in Lalmonirhat district on February 21 next. 
 
The observance will begin with placing of wreaths at the Lalmonirhat Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am on the first hour of the day, a press note issued by the Rangpur Regional PID Office here today. 
 
On the occasion of the day, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast in all government, semi-government, private, autonomous institutions and private buildings as soon as the sun rises. 
 
At the same time, a morning procession will be held from each institution to the Central Shaheed Minar of Lalmonirhat district town. 
 
At 10 am, a drawing, rhyme and poetry recitation competition will be organized for children at the Lalmonirhat Collectorate Collegiate School. 
 
Then at 11 am, a graffiti drawing and display of the 2024 mass uprising, a beautiful Bengali handwriting, composition and painting competition for children and adolescents will be held at the Lalmonirhat District Government Library. 
 
Marking the International Mother Language Day, a discussion meeting and award distribution will be organized at the conference room of the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner at 11:30 am in memory of the immortal martyrs of the language movement. 
 
Special prayers will be offered in all mosques after Zuhr and in temples, churches and other places of worship at convenient times on that day. 
 
In addition, the Lalmonirhat Central Shaheed Minar and Mission Mour Chattar area will be decorated with colorful festoons on the occasion of the day. 
 
Marking the day, the Lalmonirhat Shishu Park will be kept open for children from morning to evening and arrangements will be made for free exhibitions.
