RANGAMATI, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has launched the sale of essential commodities at subsidized prices in Rangamati ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, aiming to provide relief to low-income families.

The sales campaign began at 10:00 am on Wednesday through open trucks stationed at five key locations across the town. Each truck has been stocked to serve approximately 400 consumers in the Milan Bihar area, the Sewage Division factory premises in Bhedhedi, Rangamati Government College grounds, the gymnasium grounds, and the nursing hostel grounds adjacent to Sadar Hospital.

On the first day of the initiative, around 1,200 families were able to purchase essential goods without requiring family cards.

Under the TCB's fixed package priced at Taka 600, consumers receive two liters of soybean oil, one kilogram of sugar, one kilogram of chickpeas, two kilograms of pulses, and 500 grams of dates. The same items typically cost between Taka 750 and Taka 800 in the open market, making the TCB package a more affordable option for lower-income households.

The program is being conducted under the supervision of the Rangamati District Administration. Administrative officials are monitoring operations at each sales point to ensure orderly distribution and prevent irregularities.

The government initiative is designed to enhance the purchasing power of low-income people, stabilize market prices, and maintain a balance between supply and demand during Ramadan. The availability of essential commodities at subsidized rates is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.

TCB's truck sales in Rangamati will continue through February 22, except on Fridays and Saturdays. Separate arrangements for family card holders are also ongoing.
