RANGPUR, Feb 20, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a fugitive death row convict in a Rangpur murder case from the Badarganj municipality area under Badarganj police station of Rangpur district on Thursday afternoon.

The arrested convict is Shafi Uddin, 60, son of late Kafil Uddin of village Khamar Kursha under Mithapukur police station of Rangpur district, said a press release here this noon.

Earlier, he was sentenced to death as the main accused in the GR murder case no 10 field against him at Mithapukur police station of Rangpur district on July 13, 1995.

On a tip off, a smart team of the RAB-13's Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) from Rangpur arrested the fugitive death row convict Shafi Uddin from the Badarganj municipality area at 3:15 pm on Thursday.

The arrested convict has been handed over to Mithapukur police station for further legal action.
