Preparatory meeting for International Mother Language Day held in Mollahat

BAGERHAT, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) - A preparatory meeting and the monthly meeting of the Upazila Law and Order Committee were held today in Mollahat upazila of the district to observe Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day with due dignity.

Upazila Parishad organized the meeting this noon at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shyamananda Kundu presided over the meeting.

The UNO said the day will be observed in a dignified manner to pay tribute to the memories of the great language martyrs. 

Programmes including laying wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, holding discussions, and organizing activities at educational institutions have been planned, he said. 

During the meeting, decisions were taken on strengthening market monitoring to keep commodity prices under control during the holy month of Ramadan, and to take a strict stance against drugs, and maintaining overall law and order. 

The UNO instructed the concerned departments to work in a coordinated manner.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Susmita Saha, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Hasan Ali, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Rajib Roy, former convener of Upazila unit of BNP Shikdar Jamal Uddin and Upazila Unit Jamaat Secretary General Hafez Md. Hedayet Ullah were present.

Thanks were extended to all officials, employees, members of law enforcement agencies, and those concerned for conducting the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election in Mollahat in a free and peaceful manner.
