BGB provides humanitarian assistance to helpless families in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has distributed humanitarian assistance among helpless and underprivileged people in Barkal upazila of the district.

The assistance was provided on Thursday around 11:00 am at the Chhota Harina Battalion Headquarters under the initiative of Chhota Harina BGB as part of the Harmony and Development Project. 

Lieutenant Colonel Imrul Kayes Mehedi, Zone Commander of 12 BGB, handed over the support to several needy families.

The distributed assistance included corrugated iron sheets for repairing houses and religious institutions, financial support for medical treatment of the needy, marriage donations, sewing machines for livelihood support, honorariums for mosque imams, and iftar items for madrasas and orphanages.

Additionally, the Zone Commander provided financial assistance totaling Taka 2.54 lakh to two families affected by fire incidents. Toys were also distributed among various local clubs.

Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Imrul Kayes Mehedi said that alongside ensuring border security, BGB is actively working to improve the quality of life of people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in line with the goals of peace, harmony, and development. 

He added that such humanitarian initiatives by BGB will continue in the future.
