LAKSHMIPUR, March 7, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested three alleged robbers along with locally made arms and ammunition during a drive in Lakshmipur district.

Police said the raid was carried out late last night in different areas of Mandari Union under Chandraganj Thana following a tip-off.

During the operation, police arrested Monir Hossain, 28, son of Abul Kalam, Abdul Wadud, 50, son of Mofizul Haque, and Sumon Hossain, 45, son of Saidul Haque. All three are residents of Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.

Law enforcers also recovered a locally made single-barrel gun and five rounds of ammunition from their possession.

Police said the detainees are believed to be active members of a robbery gang and had long been accused of involvement in various criminal activities in the area. Police suspect that the group had gathered there to prepare for a robbery.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin and Finance) Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi said the arrested persons are members of an inter-district robbery gang.

He said police are interrogating them to gather further information and to identify other members involved with the gang.

A case has been filed with Chandraganj Thana under the Arms Act in this connection.
