CHUADANGA, March 7, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified searches along the Chuadanga border and increased manpower to prevent fuel smuggling.
Director of Chuadanga-6 BGB Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Hasan said this in a press release.
From today, intelligence surveillance has been strengthened at border points, including the Darshana ICP, to curb fuel smuggling. BGB personnel are conducting searches of buses, trucks and other vehicles, said the press release.
It added the prices of fuel in the international market are rising due to recent global instability and war situations. Taking advantage of such instability, some unscrupulous groups may attempt to create an artificial crisis in the country by hoarding fuel or smuggling it to make excessive profit.
The release said that to prevent smuggling, BGB has strengthened patrols and intelligence surveillance and increased manpower in the areas under the responsibility of Chuadanga-6 BGB, including Darshana ICP and other border points in Chuadanga district.
Temporary checkposts have also been set up at various important locations to conduct searches.
In particular, additional BGB members have been deployed at routes where attempts were previously made to smuggle diesel and petrol.
