
SYLHET, March 14, 2026 (BSS)- The cheques amounting to TK 11.41 crore were distributed among the owners of land acquired for four development projects under implementation in Sylhet district.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Sarwar Alam handed over the compensation cheques among the affected land owners at a function held at the Sylhet DC Office’s Conference Room this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the incumbent government is firm to ensure fair compensation to the affected land owners and efforts have been made to provide maximum compensation to each affected person as per rules.
The DC called upon the land owners to stay away from the gang of the fraudsters, urging all, “If anyone is harassed, he or she should inform the Deputy Commissioner”.
Meanwhile, under the cheques distribution program, compensation was paid through 21 cheques to the owners of the acquired land under the 'Land Acquisition and Utility Transfer Project: Support to Upgrading Dhaka (Kanchpur)-Sylhet-Tamabil Highway to Four Lanes and Construction of Separate Service Lanes on Both Sides, ‘Establishment of Sylhet Medical University’, Establishment of Regional Public Administration Training Centre' and Establishment of 150 MW Power Plant' projects.
