Month-long cleanliness drive begins in Ctg to prevent dengue

CHATTOGRAM, March 14, 2026 (BSS) - A month-long cleanliness and awareness campaign has kicked off in Chattogram to combat the spread of dengue. 

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin inaugurated the program at DC Hill in the city this morning. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah and District Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, among others, attended the inauguration ceremony.
 
Speaking as the chief guest, Ziauddin stressed the need for cleaning the city before the rainy season to prevent the proliferation of dengue mosquitoes. He highlighted the benefits that city residents would reap from this initiative and stressed the significance of dengue prevention as a crucial step. 
 
Zahidul Islam Miah emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring public safety by conducting awareness campaigns to prevent dengue. 

Following the programme, a discussion was held at the Chattogram Circuit House to spread awareness among the city residents about the dangers of dengue and prevention measures. 

However, Chattogram recorded 68 dengue cases in January, 24 in February with one fatality and 15 cases so far this month. In 2025, Chattogram recorded a total of 4,864 dengue cases and 27 deaths.
