RAJSHAHI, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - A soothing rainfall occurred in Rajshahi on
the first night of the Bengali month of Chaitra.

After a long dry spell during winter, the light rain brought some relief to
city residents. It also slightly reduced the daytime temperature.

According to the Meteorological Office, Rajshahi recorded 2.4 millimeters of
rainfall in about an hour between 9:05 pm and 10:20 pm on Sunday (March 15).

Earlier, on 20 February, the city had recorded only 0.1 millimeter of
rainfall. Thus, after nearly three weeks, Rajshahi experienced rainfall
again.

Sources at the Meteorological Office said that light rainfall occasionally
occurs during this period due to seasonal changes.

Meteorologists also noted that nighttime temperatures may drop slightly after
such rainfall.

The sudden rain on the night of the first day of Chaitra created a pleasant
atmosphere in different parts of the city.

However, many people are also viewing it as a sign of the approaching summer
season.

Regarding this, Gausuzzaman, Senior Observer at the Rajshahi Meteorological
Observatory, said that there are still clouds in the sky and there is a
possibility of more rainfall during the night.

According to the Meteorological Office, the maximum temperature in Rajshahi
on the day was 32.4oC, while the minimum temperature was 25.8 degree Celcius.
