Accused in Ctg construction worker murder case arrested

CHATTOGAM, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - A team of RAB-7 has arrested Md Hanif (28), the absconding accused in the murder case of construction worker Salauddin Sohag (38) in Chandanish upazila of the district, from Cumilla. 

RAB-7 Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain today said that Hanif was apprehended in a raid conducted in the Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station area on Wednesday afternoon. 

The deceased, Salauddin Sohag, was the son of Moju Mia from Nayapara, Chakaria, Cox's Bazar. He had moved to Diakul, Chakaria, 15 years ago and worked as a construction worker, residing there with his wife and children. 

The arrested Hanif is the son of Mofizur Rahman from Diakul Khan Sahebpara, Chakaria. RAB stated that Hanif stabbed Salauddin during an argument on Friday night (March 13) following a previous dispute. Salauddin passed away on Saturday morning while receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College. His wife, Monifa Akhter, filed a murder case with the police station. 

Based on confidential information, a joint team of RAB-7 and RAB-11 conducted a raid and apprehended Hanif in the Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station area. He has been handed over to Chandanaish Police Station for further legal proceedings.
