KHULNA, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - Four members of a family were shot by miscreants after they stormed into a house in Khulna early this (Thursday) morning

The incident took place around 6.30 am in the Khadijabag Krishnanagar Thikarbad area under Labanchara Police Station in the city.

The injured persons were identified as Kazi AnisurRahman, his wife Ranjuara Begum, their son Raisul Islam, and daughter-in-law Fahima.

Among them, Ranjuara Begum and Fahima sustained critical injuries and were later shifted to Dhaka for advanced treatment from Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Official and local people said that Anisur’s younger son Rashidul had been jailed about three years ago in a drug-related case, where he became acquainted with an alleged criminal named Imran.

Taking advantage of that connection, Rashidul frequently visited Imran’s residence and reportedly developed a relationship with Imran’s wife Fahima.

About six months ago, when Imran was again imprisoned in another case, Rashidul married Fahima. Angered by the development, Imran allegedly sought revenge.

Police said the attacked was carried out around dawn, when a group of assailants entered the house and opened fire on the family members.

Officer-in-Charge of Labanchara Police Station Md. Tuhinuzzaman said the incident appears to have stemmed from an extramarital relationship. A total of six criminals involved in the attacked, OC suspected, adding that drives are underway to arrest those involved.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Khulna Medical College Hospital immediately after the shooting.
