Programmes undertaken to mark Independence Day in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Mar 25, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi District Administration has undertaken various programmes to observe the Great Independence and National Day with due dignity. 

The programmes will begin at sunrise with the hoisting of the national flag at government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings, followed by a 31-gun salute at the District Police Lines. 

Later, wreaths will be placed at the martyrs' monument on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's office to pay homage to all the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War. 
 
At 8:30 am, a parade and display featuring students from educational institutions will be held at the Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium. 

At 11:00 am, a reception will be given to valiant freedom fighters at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
 
Special prayers will be offered in all mosques and other places of worship seeking peace, prosperity, development, and progress of the nation. 

On the same day, special meals will be served-arranged by the respective authorities-at government hospitals, prisons, children's homes, street children's rehabilitation centers, disability welfare centers, old-age homes, vagrant rehabilitation institutions, and day-care centers.
 
Major roads and traffic islands in the city will be decorated with national flags, banners, festoons, and colorful pennants.
 
On the occasion, important government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings and installations will be illuminated.
 
To mark the day, all museums under government, private, and autonomous institutions in Rajshahi district will remain open to the public free of charge from morning till evening. Children will also be allowed free entry to recreational spots.

Cinema halls in the district will screen Liberation War-based films free of cost for students, and documentary screenings on the Liberation War will be organized at district-level auditoriums or open venues by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
 
At 5:30 pm, a cultural programme will be held at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
