
DHAKA, March 25, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Great Independence Day tomorrow.
The programmes, which include floral tributes, a documentary screening, a discussion, and a cultural session, will be open to the general public, said a press release today.
The day's observances will begin at 8am with a tribute ceremony at the National Memorial in Savar.
Officers, employees, and artists of the academy will place wreaths at the memorial to pay respect to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
The main segment of the celebration is scheduled to begin at 6pm at the National Theatre Hall auditorium. The event features a documentary screening, a formal discussion, and an interleaved cultural programme.
Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury will attend the programme as the chief guest, while State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam will be present as the special guest.
Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md. Mofidur Rahman will chair the session.
Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, poet, and cultural personality Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed (Rezauddin Stalin) will deliver the welcome address. Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam will participate as the keynote speaker.
The evening will commence with the screening of a 30-minute documentary titled "The People's President", followed by the formal discussion session.
The cultural segment will follow a specific sequence of performances including choral music, solo performances and dance.
