Indian President greets people of Bangladesh on Independence Day

DHAKA, March 25, 2026 (BSS) – Indian President Droupadi Murmu has extended warm greetings to Bangladesh on its Independence and National Day, reaffirming commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing regional peace, stability and prosperity.
 
In a letter to Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin, she said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, I extend warm greetings and felicitations to Your Excellency and to the friendly people of Bangladesh on the occasion of your National Day.”
 
Highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, the Indian President said, “India and Bangladesh are bound by a shared history, deep cultural linkages and enduring linguistic traditions that form the foundation of our close partnership.”
 
She added, “Through the years, we have made significant progress in advancing people-centric development across key sectors including connectivity, trade, development partnership, power and energy, capacity building and education, delivering tangible benefits to citizens on both sides of the border.”
 
Reaffirming India’s commitment to further strengthening relations, she said, “India looks forward to working closely with Bangladesh to further strengthen our bilateral partnership and to advance regional peace, stability and prosperity.”
 
The letter concluded with her conveying best wishes, stating, “Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my renewed consideration and my best wishes to the Government and the people of Bangladesh.”
