MANIKGANJ, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed after a 2-hour 10-minute suspension due to dense fog, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat sources said.
BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abdus Salam said ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route was suspended at 4:30 am on Monday as dense fog blanketed the river route, reducing visibility.
The ferry movement resumed at 6:40 am this morning after the 2-hour 10-minute suspension when the weather situation improved.
During this period, seven ferries-Shah Paran, Khan Jahan Ali, Keramat Ali, Shah Makhdum, Hasna Hena, Golam Maula and Bonolota-remained stranded at Paturia Ghat. Two ferries-Dhaka and Bir Shreshtha Motiur-were stranded at Daulatdia Ghat, while two others-Shah Enayetpuri and Bhaigar-were anchored in the middle of the Padma River with vehicles and passengers on board, the BIWTC sources said.
Now all the ferries are plying normally with full loads of vehicles and passengers, the sources added.
