DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,563 cases against traffic law violators during a day-long drive across different areas of the capital.

According to a DMP press release, the drive was conducted on Sunday in multiple divisions of the capital.

Among the divisions, Traffic-Gulshan recorded the highest number of cases at 504, followed by Traffic-Uttara with 280 cases and Traffic-Mirpur with 207 cases.

Traffic-Lalbagh filed 166 cases, Tejgaon 136, Motijheel 128, Wari 72, and Traffic-Ramna 70 cases.

The drive targeted various types of vehicles including buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles, with motorcycles accounting for a significant portion of violations in most divisions.

During the drive, authorities also took strict action by dumping 378 vehicles and wrecking 100 others for serious violations.

The DMP officials said the drive is part of an ongoing effort to restore discipline on city roads and reduce traffic congestion and accidents.

They added that such drives will continue regularly to ensure compliance with traffic laws across Dhaka.
