21 held in block raids in Lalbagh for drug abuse

DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested 21 individuals identified as drug aduser during a series of block raids conducted in different thana areas of the capital in an effort to maintain law and order.


The drive was conducted on Sunday (March 29) around 9:00 pm in the Chawkbazar, Sutrapur, and Bangshal thana areas.


According to a police press release issued today, the coordinated block raids led to the arrest of 21 persons involved in drug abuse.

The arrestees are -- Salauddin ,42, Md. Rubel ,23, Tarek ,24, Md. Raihan Pathan ,30, Md. Iqbal Hossain ,42 , Md. Raju ,40, Ramzan Boyati ,19, Md. Salauddin ,35, Shah Jahan ,28, Rabiul Islam Ratan ,22, Md. Hannan ,45, Md. Iqbal ,21, Azmain ,22, Alamgir Hossain ,58, Imran Hossain Siad ,32, Mehedi Hasan alias Raihan ,21, Shariful Islam ,31, Dudu Mia ,42, Lokman Bepari ,55, Md. Alauddin ,25, and Md. Al-Amin ,23.


Following their arrest, the accused were sent before the Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court. 


After a summary trial, the court sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment and ordered their transfer to jail.


Police officials stated that such operations will continue in different parts of the capital to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
