JU VC congratulates Dr Shakhaoat on WHO advisory role

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today congratulated Dr Md Shakhaoat Hossain on his appointment as a member of a World Health Organization (WHO) advisory body.

Dr Shakhaoat, chairman of the Department of Public Health and Informatics, has been selected for the WHO Regional Expert Group on Environmental Determinants of Health and Climate Change for a two-year term, said a congratulatory message issued here today.

In his congratulatory message, the VC expressed the university administration's pride in the achievement, saying the recognition would further inspire Dr Shakhaoat to advance education and research.

He noted that the appointment reflects Dr Shakhaoat's extensive research and notable contributions in the areas of air pollution, climate change and public health.

Professor Ahsan also voiced optimism that Dr Shakhaoat would play an effective role in shaping policy responses to health and climate challenges in the South-East Asia region.

The Vice-Chancellor wished him continued success and a long, productive career.
