RANGPUR, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration has appointed 85
tag officers at filling stations in the district to monitor the fuel
marketing situation.

The appointed Officers-in-Charge have been supervising the relevant fuel
filling stations since Monday morning.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Ahsan told BSS that 85 officials of various levels
have been appointed as tag officers at 85 filling stations across the
district.

"They will supervise the fuel sales activities every day," he said.

According to local market sources and buyers of petroleum products, there is
still a shortage of fuels in the filling stations of Rangpur.

Hundreds of motorcycles and many cars have been seen lining up at various oil
pumps since the morning.

Many customers were seen waiting for hours and returning without getting
fuel.

Many of them blamed some greedy and unfair traders for the artificial crises
as the government has been ensuring smooth supply of fuels and hoped that the
situation would be normalized immediately.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the district administration sources informed that the
district depots have 7,522 liters of diesel, 33,500 liters of petrol, 14,000
liters of octane and 27,000 liters of kerosene in stock.

Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at three oil
depots in Rangpur due to security concerns.

Zakir Hossain Patwary, in-charge of Meghna depot, said that earlier the
filling stations used to take petrol-octane twice a week, but now the demand
is coming from there every day.

"As a result, it has become difficult to supply fuels accordingly. In
addition, due to the rush of customers at the pumps, BGB has been deployed at
the depots due to security concerns," he added.
