DHAKA, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today imposed a travel ban on Md Moazzem Hossain, former assistant private secretary (APS) to the  then LGRD and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC plea, during his tenure as the APS to the Adviser for LGRD and Sports of the interim government, Moazzem allegedly amassed hundreds of crores of taka through influence peddling, tender manipulation, and extortion.

It further states that allegations of money laundering are currently under inquiry, as he reportedly transferred the illicit funds abroad and acquired assets in various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and the United States.

“Since the accused may leave the country at any time, it is deemed necessary, in the interest of a fair and proper investigation, to impose restrictions on his foreign travel until the inquiry proceedings are completed,” the plea added.
