DU Fine Arts Faculty begins Bangla New Year preparations

DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - Preparations for the celebration of Pahela Baishakh and Bangla New Year 1433 began today at the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Dhaka.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha inaugurated the preparation activities as the chief guest, according to a university press release.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Professor Dr Md Azharul Islam Sheikh presided over the inaugural ceremony, while Ekushey Padak-winning artist Professor Dr Abdus Sattar spoke as the special guest.

Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, along with assistant proctors, faculty members, students, cultural figures and artists, were present at the event.

Pro-VC Dr Bidisha thanked faculty members, students and alumni for their efforts in organising the Bangla New Year celebrations.

She said preliminary activities have already begun through various committees to ensure the success of the festival. The university administration is working to celebrate the Bangla New Year in a peaceful, orderly and festive atmosphere, she added.

She urged all to extend full cooperation in this regard.
