Two establishments fined in Satkhira for hoarding edible oil

SATKHIRA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) –A mobile court in a drive today fined two establishments TK 25,000 in total for illegally hoarding edible oil.

The drive was conducted at Sultanpur Boro Bazar in the district town by a joint team comprising the district administration, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Bangladesh Army and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.

Executive Magistrate Md. Shahed Hossain led the mobile court.

According to official sources, the drive was carried out following a tip-off that a large quantity of edible oil had been stockpiled in the Bazar area.

During the drive, the court fined Habibur Rahman, proprietor of M/S Haji Traders, TK  20,000 and Sukumar Sadhu, proprietor of Sadhu Store, TK  5,000 for illegal hoarding.

RAB-6 Satkhira Camp Company Commander and Assistant Police Superintendent Zayen Uddin Muhammad Ziyad said the drive aimed to prevent artificial shortages and price hikes.

He added that such operations would continue to curb hoarding and ensure market stability.
